Project Description

About ILF

ILF’s vision is Equity of Opportunity – through literacy – for all Indigenous children living in remote Australia. ILF provides resources and programs that help improve the literacy outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, so that they can make the most of their educational and lifelong learning opportunities.

Programs include:

Book Supply – over the past 10 years, ILF has supplied over 400,000 books to over 400 communities – 40 per cent of which were created by Indigenous authors and illustrators.

Book Buzz – empowers families to feel confident to read and share books together with their babies and toddlers, in both English and the languages they speak at home.

Community Literacy Projects – engage children and adults and other members of the community to create and publish books.
